ROWE RACING European tour continues with appearance at the “Home of British Motor Racing”

St. Ingbert, 7^th May 2019 – ROWE RACING is heading from the “Royal Park” in Monza to Silverstone in England, the second stop on the European tour of five traditional Formula 1 racetracks. The second of five races in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup takes place on Sunday (12^th May) at the “Home of British Motor Racing”. This also marks the second race appearance for the team from St. Ingbert with the two new Porsche 911 GT3 Rs.

After finishing eighth in Italy, Porsche works driver Dirk Werner and the Porsche Young Professionals Dennis Olsen from Norway and Australia’s Matt Campbell will once again be aiming for a top 10 finish in the #99 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Matt Campbell’s class win at the World Endurance Championship in Spa last weekend will provide extra motivation, and he will be returning there with ROWE RACING for the 24-hour race on the last weekend in July, the highlight of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

Former Le Mans winner and WEC champion Romain Dumas will be competing in the #98 car in Silverstone, alongside his compatriot and Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet and Porsche works driver and team-mate Sven Müller from Germany. The trio will be hoping for better luck in the race than they had in Monza, where a safety car phase and tyre problems saw them fall back to 21st place in the final stages after having been in the lead for a time.

The 5.901-kilometre Silverstone circuit is around 110 kilometres to the northwest of London, and is regarded as the cradle of Formula 1. Once an ultrafast airfield track with a relatively simple layout, the most recent redesign in 2010 transformed it into a versatile and modern circuit that still retains its original high-speed character. The two official days of testing on Thursday and Friday will give the team from St. Ingbert plenty of opportunities to get used to the new Porsche race car and adjust it to the circuit. The race weekend starts on Saturday (11^th May) with the free practice session from 11:40 to 12:40 CET (10:40 to 11:40 local time). Pre-qualifying will take place in the afternoon, from 16:40 to 18:10 CET (15:40 to 17:10 local time). The starting line-up for the three-hour race will be determined during qualifying on Sunday (12th May) from 10:40 to 11:40 CET (09:40 to 10:40 local time). The race itself starts at 16:00 CET (15:00 local time).

Hans-Peter Naundorf, ROWE RACING team principal: “Regardless of the complexity of the travel arrangements, it is always nice to be competing in England, where spectators are very knowledgeable and love their motorsport. The Silverstone circuit is very challenging with lots of options. It has long straights, a lot of fast corners and some slow ones too. The weather always provides some tension too, as it can change from one minute to the next. We have performed intensive analysis of the season-opener in Monza and worked extensively on our two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs since then. We want to implement everything we learned in Italy and we are sure that we will be able to put on another strong performance in Silverstone. The two days of testing make this a demanding weekend for the whole team, similar to the 24-hour race. However, we also have the chance to get to know our cars better and improve the set-up.”
